SEVIS Transfer Student Information

We’re so glad you’re considering joining the Avila University Arizona (AUA) community! If you’re transferring from another U.S. institution, we’ll help make your SEVIS transfer process smooth and simple, so you can focus on your next chapter at AUA.

  • Go to our online application portal.
  • Create a profile and complete all required fields.
  • Upload your F-1 Student Visa, Form I-20, and Form I-94.
  • Submit your application and wait for your official acceptance letter.

See our Admission Requirements page for full details.

Once you’ve submitted your complete application along with all required immigration documents, our Designated School Official (DSO) will email you the Transfer-In Form to begin the transfer process.

Then:

  • Notify your current international student advisor that you plan to transfer.
  • Complete the Transfer-In Form with your current international student advisor and email it to dso@arizona.avila.edu. Please include your applicant ID in the email subject line.
  • Agree on a SEVIS transfer release date (the date your record officially moves to AUA) with your current international student advisor.

Your advisor will then update your SEVIS record with transfer-out information and confirm a SEVIS release date.

Keep attending your current classes and following all immigration regulations until your SEVIS release date.

After your release date, AUA will issue a new Form I-20 marked “Transfer Pending”. Keep this form — it confirms your SEVIS record transfer is officially underway.

To complete this step:

  • Submit updated financial documents so we can process your I-20.

If you leave the U.S. after your SEVIS release date, be sure to use your AUA-issued Form I-20 for re-entry and carry all required documents, including your valid visa. Before traveling, please contact the Designated School Official (DSO) to obtain a travel signature at dso@arizona.avila.edu.

Before classes begin:

  • Complete all pre-arrival steps with AUA’s international student office (at least 15 days before classes start).
  • Submit the Pre-Arrival Form.
  • Complete your SEVIS registration to activate your record at AUA.

Join us for New Student Orientation to meet your classmates, explore campus, and get settled in.

Continue following all F-1 visa requirements to maintain your transfer status at Avila University Arizona.

Important:

The SEVIS transfer process follows federal regulations that may change over time. Always confirm details on the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) websites: USCIS.gov and StudyInTheStates.dhs.gov, and coordinate with the Designated School Official (DSO) and international student advisors at both institutions.
